The Goody Gumdrop

She doesn’t slip. She doesn’t “just have a bite.” She doesn’t Google in panic at 2am because she already knows. The Goody Gumdrop is the gold standard in human form—labs pristine, fluid intake angelic, diet so dialled-in it could run a masterclass. She arrives prepared, leaves composed, and somehow manages to make compliance look like a personality trait. Nurses love her. Dietitians quote her. Other patients… oscillate between admiration and the quiet urge to throw a biscuit at her head. It’s not that she’s smug—she’s actually quite lovely—but there’s something mildly unsettling about someone who never wobbles in a system built on wobbling. She doesn’t break the rules. She becomes them. And somewhere deep in the collective psyche of the ward, a question echoes: is she thriving… or has she simply out-disciplined her own humanity?

Superpower: Clinical perfection. Knows exactly what to do, does it consistently, and somehow makes it look effortless. Walking, talking “target range.”

Weakness: Zero margin for chaos. One unexpected spike, one off-day, one moment of human behaviour… and the internal system crashes like a perfectly organised spreadsheet hit by a single rogue cell.
